Recently I went to the gym, and throughout my workout, I could feel myself burning out. My rep count went down when I was doing squats, and I started feeling horrible. I’ve been in a bad place lately because I’ve stressed out over minor things and developed a tendency to think negatively. The guy beside me doing squats was doing over double my weight. I usually don’t compare myself to others at the gym,
but look up to them. With how bad I was feeling, seeing him doing so amazingly well had me feeling worse when it shouldn't have. Even though I felt this way, I kept pushing myself to keep going.
After the guy beside me finished his workout on the bar and reset the weights, he walked past me and said either, “It’s impressive” or “that’s impressive,” and smiled. I don’t know which one he said, but it immediately had me feeling better, and I started doing more reps. Later, I found him and thanked him. I explained that I’d been feeling so burnt out. He responded, “It’s all about positive energy. That and music, of course.” He was so kind, and it was apparent he’d noticed I wasn’t feeling good when I was working out. Little things like this helped me remember what I already knew but needed to be reminded of. It truly made my day, so thank you.
